HCPC Registered Dietitian Bone Health Specialist 20+ Years' Experience
HCPC Registered Dietitian · 20+ years' experience · Bone health specialist

Being told you have osteopenia or osteoporosis is unsettling, and the advice that follows is often vague. Deborah David is an HCPC registered dietitian with over twenty years of dietetic experience and now a specialism in bone health. Her approach combines nutrition, mindset and movement and it is grounded in evidence-based research. She was part of the DFINES research team at the University of Surrey studying the importance of vitamin D on bone health. In addition to freelance consultancy, she is a lead volunteer advocate for the Royal Osteoporosis Society. The aim is to help you protect your bones for an active life.

How Deborah can help

Evidence-based bone health support from a registered dietitian who has spent her career in nutrition research and clinical practice.

🌡️

Bone Health Through Menopause

Menopause Bone Loss Post-Menopausal Bone Health Osteoporosis Prevention
Bone loss accelerates around menopause, and it tends to be the part of the conversation that gets least attention while everything focuses on hormones. Deborah runs a dedicated menopause intensive and a longer twelve-week Menopause Blueprint, both of which protect bone health alongside the wider transition. She will discuss HRT and point you to the right resources, but the decision stays between you and your doctor.
☀️

Vitamin D & Calcium Review

Vitamin D Deficiency Calcium Supplements Bone Nutrition Micronutrients
Vitamin D and calcium advice is everywhere and much of it is contradictory. Deborah's research background is directly relevant here: she was part of the DFINES team at the University of Surrey, studying how diet and sunlight exposure affect vitamin D levels. She reviews what you are getting from food, sunlight and any supplements, and tells you plainly whether it is adequate for your bones.
🧠

Nutrition, Mindset & Movement

Behaviour Change Nutrition Coaching Movement Healthy Ageing Bone Health
Knowing what to eat and actually doing it are different problems, which is why Deborah's approach deliberately combines all three of nutrition, mindset and movement rather than handing over a food list. Movement matters for bone directly, through loading, and mindset matters because a plan you resent is a plan you abandon. The aim is changes you can keep.
🗓️

Bone Health Intensive

Bone Health Programme Osteoporosis Meal Plan Movement Mindset
Deborah's structured route in is a three-part intensive of three sixty-minute sessions. You audit your risk factors, current eating and movement together, build an understanding of the nutrition pillars that matter for bone, work through the practical blocks that stop people following through, and finish with a personalised seven-day bone health meal plan. It begins with a free thirty-minute discovery call so you can decide whether it fits before committing.

Meet Deborah David Nutrition

Deborah David is an HCPC registered dietitian with a specialism in bone health. Her route into dietetics was an unusual one: she came from a postgraduate background in microbiology, teaching and clinical trials management before studying Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Surrey. She has since spent over twenty years as a registered dietitian, first within the NHS and more recently as a freelance consultant, combining clinical practice with scientific research and public health policy.

That research background still shapes how she practises. She was part of the DFINES research team at the University of Surrey, a study of how diet and sunlight exposure affect vitamin D levels, which is directly relevant to the vitamin D and calcium questions that dominate bone health advice. She works with the Royal Osteoporosis Society, and teaches on Culinary Medicine UK workshops where fifth-year medical students learn the evidence base alongside hands-on cooking.

Bone health became her focus for two reasons. Professionally, she saw what bone disease does to people: lose too much bone or make too little, and bones can break with a minor fall, leading to pain, deformity and a downward spiral into physical and sometimes mental health problems. Personally, she went through menopause focused on the symptoms everyone talks about and, in her own words, missed the internal changes happening in her bones. Her answer is not a supplement leaflet. It is an approach built on nutrition, mindset and movement together.

Working with Deborah starts with a free thirty-minute discovery call, after which you choose the route that fits: a three-part Bone Health Intensive, a Menopause Intensive, or the twelve-week Menopause Blueprint. She provides customised meal and exercise plans, and is clear about the limits of her role. She does not issue prescriptions, and while she will discuss HRT and point you to good resources, that decision stays between you and your doctor.

I want to help you take care of your bones through nutrition, mindset and movement, so that you can be confident and supported to protect your bones for living an active, healthy, happy life.
