Waiting years for an autism or ADHD assessment is its own kind of harm. Skylight Psychiatry is an NHS Right to Choose qualified provider, which means that if you live in England and have an English GP practice, you have a legal right to choose them for your assessment and it is funded by the NHS. Assessments follow NICE guidance, are carried out by consultant psychiatrists specialising in neurodevelopmental conditions, and can happen face to face at Health Village Esher, remotely by video, or at home if that is less stressful for you.

How Skylight can help

Consultant-led autism and ADHD assessment for adults, NHS-funded through Right to Choose or self-funded.

๐Ÿ”—

Combined Autism & ADHD

Autism ADHD Combined Assessment Neurodevelopmental Assessment Co-occurring Conditions
Autism and ADHD often occur together, and being assessed for only one can leave the picture incomplete. Skylight offers a combined assessment covering both. If you are referred for a combined assessment, your GP needs to send the screening forms for both pathways together with the referral, so it is worth checking the paperwork before it goes.
๐Ÿ’Š

ADHD Medication Titration

ADHD Medication Medication Titration ADHD Treatment Post-Diagnostic Care
For patients diagnosed with ADHD, medication titration is the process of finding the right medication and the right dose, with structured review along the way. Skylight is currently only able to offer titration to patients who have been assessed by their own service, so if you were diagnosed elsewhere this route is not available to you at present.

Remote & Home Assessments

Remote Assessment Video Assessment Home Assessment Accessible Assessment
Not everyone assesses well in a clinic room, and for many autistic and ADHD adults a clinical setting is the hardest possible place to be at your most articulate. Skylight supports remote video assessment and assessment in your own home, on the basis that these are accessible, reliable and for many people simply preferable. Face to face at Esher remains available.
๐Ÿค

Pre & Post-Diagnostic Support

Post-Diagnostic Support Treatment Plan Family Support Neurodiversity Support
Support begins once your referral is received, not once you are diagnosed. Skylight provides a comprehensive booklet explaining the diagnostic process so you know what is coming. After assessment, treatment plans are holistic and built around you and your family's needs, and you receive a report setting out the diagnosis and the treatment recommendations.

Meet Skylight Psychiatry

Skylight Psychiatry provides adult autism and ADHD diagnostic assessments, and its Esher clinic is at Health Village. The company was set up by two professionals with a shared goal of improving the lives of the neurodiverse population, having seen at first hand the imbalance between the number of people waiting for an assessment and the services available to assess them. Long waits cause prolonged suffering, and shortening them is the reason Skylight exists.

The most important thing to know is that Skylight is an NHS Right to Choose qualified provider. If you live in England and are registered with an English GP practice, you have a legal right to choose who carries out your mental health assessment. That means you can choose Skylight, be seen at Health Village Esher, and have the assessment funded by the NHS. Your GP sends a referral letter, a medical summary and the relevant screening forms, and Skylight contacts you to register once the referral is accepted. Right to Choose applies to adults aged eighteen and over.

Assessments follow NICE guidance and are carried out by consultant psychiatrists who specialise in neurodevelopmental conditions. The Clinical Director, Dr Caryl Marshall, is the named consultant psychiatrist and lead for ADHD assessments. She trained in intellectual disability psychiatry at the Maudsley, has worked in the field of intellectual disabilities and autism for more than twenty years, and is co-module lead on the MSc Basic Mental Health Course at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King’s College London. She works alongside a wider team of consultant psychiatrists and a registered social worker.

Skylight is deliberately flexible about where assessment happens. Alongside face-to-face appointments at Esher and sixteen other clinics, it supports remote video assessment and assessment in your own home, on the view that for many people a familiar environment is less stressful than a clinic room. Support starts before diagnosis, with a booklet explaining the process, and continues afterwards with an individualised treatment plan and a written report.

How it works

1

Speak to Your GP

Ask your GP to refer you to Skylight Psychiatry under NHS Right to Choose. The referral needs a letter with the reason for referral, a medical summary, and the screening forms for autism, ADHD, or both.

GP appointment
2

Referral Accepted

Once Skylight receives and accepts the referral, they contact you to register with the service. You are not added to the waiting list until registration is complete, so this step matters.

After referral
3

Pre-Diagnostic Support

You receive a comprehensive booklet explaining the diagnostic process, so you know what to expect before your appointment rather than walking in cold.

Before assessment
4

Your Assessment

A NICE-aligned assessment with a consultant psychiatrist, face to face at Health Village Esher, by video, or at home. Afterwards you receive a report with the diagnosis and treatment recommendations.
