The Science

EVG Electroviscerogram AI Diagnosis Clinical Evidence Peer-Reviewed
Endometrial tissue secretes prostaglandins that cause changes in intestinal motility, producing a distinctive electrical pattern in the gastrointestinal tract. The EndoSure Test generates an electroviscerogram, or EVG, to capture these signals. AI clinical decision support software identifies the pattern. The scientific basis was first published by Mathias and colleagues in Fertility and Sterility in 1998. A peer-reviewed study by Noar in 2022 reported 100% concordance with surgical findings in the trial context.

Results & Next Steps

Results Treatment Pathway GP Report Specialist Review
Following your appointment, your data is reviewed by an endometriosis specialist. A detailed report is sent directly to you and your GP within 3 working days. If endometriosis is detected, the report provides the clinical evidence your GP or consultant needs to plan a treatment pathway, whether that involves hormonal management, pain relief, specialist referral, or further investigation. The EndoSure Test is a clinical decision support tool that gives you and your medical team the information to move forward.
🔍

Adenomyosis Detection

Adenomyosis Adenomyosis Diagnosis Uterine Pain Heavy Bleeding
Adenomyosis is a condition where tissue similar to the womb lining grows into the muscular wall of the uterus, causing heavy painful periods and chronic pelvic pain. It is frequently confused with or coexists alongside endometriosis. The EndoSure Test can detect patterns associated with both endometriosis and adenomyosis, providing a clearer diagnostic picture than many conventional approaches. If you have been investigated for endometriosis but also suspect adenomyosis, this test may add clinical insight.

Meet EndoSure

The EndoSure Test at Health Village Esher is delivered by It’s About Time, the women’s health division of Lawmed Ltd. Founded in 2000, Lawmed is a UK medical device company that in 2023 became the exclusive UK distributor for EndoSure technology. The Esher clinic is one of four run directly by the It’s About Time team, alongside locations in Manchester, London and the Wirral. When you book here, you book directly with the It’s About Time team and your appointment is delivered by their trained practitioners.

The EndoSure Test grew out of research into the relationship between endometriosis and neuromuscular changes in the gastrointestinal tract, first published by Mathias and colleagues in Fertility and Sterility in 1998. The test generates an electroviscerogram (EVG), a recording of the electrical activity of the smooth muscle in the abdomen. Endometrial tissue causes changes in intestinal motility through prostaglandins, producing a distinctive electrical pattern that AI software can identify. A peer-reviewed study by Noar in the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology (2022) reported 100% concordance with surgical findings in the trial context.

Your appointment takes under an hour. Small electrode pads are placed on your abdomen while you recline comfortably. You will be asked to drink water until you feel full before the recording begins, and to switch off your phone during the test. The process is entirely external and painless. Following the test, your results are reviewed by an endometriosis specialist and a detailed report is sent to both you and your GP within 3 working days, ready to support the next stage of your care.

It’s About Time also operates licensed partner clinics across the UK, including locations in Newcastle and Nottingham, and runs a dedicated adolescent clinic in Manchester led by Dr Gail Busby, a consultant gynaecologist specialising in paediatric and adolescent gynaecology.

For decades, women with pelvic pain have been asked to wait. Wait for someone to take their symptoms seriously. It is about time that changed.

What patients say

★★★★★
My daughter started her periods at age 11 and progressively her menstrual pain has been getting worse and worse. We had repeatedly been to the GP but you always get dismissed and put on pills. Without EndoSure I am sure we would still be banging our heads.
— Mother from the Midlands
Endometriosis (daughter)
★★★★★
Beth was lovely and very professional, and the test only took around half an hour in total silence so it could read her body. So glad we found out and can take next steps.
